Campaign Story

A performance of
Handel’s Messiah
with
Orchestra & Soloists
At St. Peter’s Church, Phibsborough
Sunday 24th November at 7.30 p.m.

We need your help!

St. Peter’s Church, a landmark of Dublin’s North Side, stands at the junction of the North Circular and Cabra Roads.

• For over 100 years it has had a proud tradition of serving the local people and visitors to the area.

Recently there has been a very welcome regeneration of the Phibsborough area, not least through the arrival of the Luas, the establishment of the Technical University at Grangegorman and the proposed refurbishment of Dalymount Park and Phibsborough Shopping Centre. The physical regeneration is accompanied by a diverse cultural regeneration as well, aided by the range of nationalities which have made their home here.

• St. Peter’s Church has grown in tandem with the Phibsborough area and has been a sponsor of Music and the Arts down through the generations. It is also home to a series of Harry Clarke windows which were recently restored.

• The church boasts a fine pipe organ which dates back to 1910. The organ has been silent for some years and is in urgent need of restoration.

Our aim is to open the Church to musical and cultural events.

• A series of musical events is planned to fundraise for the restoration of the organ, of which the performance of Handel’s Messiah on 24th November is the first. This performance will be given by The Guinness Choir, Soloists and Orchestra and it is expected that there will be an audience of 800 people.

How you can help!

• By financing /supporting our first endeavour, you will be contributing to a legacy of music and culture and will be playing an important part in the regeneration of this wonderful part of Dublin’s Northside.

• By making a contribution, your name will be included (if wished) in pre-concert publicity and in our concert programme.

Our hope is that St. Peter’s will continue to play its part in the social and cultural renewal of the area and be in the future as in the past, an accessible centre for music and the Arts, not only for a regenerated Phibsborough, but for the whole of Dublin.
